Distance to Depth: Raising Funds for I Am Water

Two years ago we connected with an amazing local ocean conservation foundation called I Am Water. I Am Water empowers South African learners through holistic learning, cultivating an appreciation for the ocean – and what we love, we naturally protect.

This interaction sparked a beautiful collaboration.

The Cape Town Swim team approaches the ocean through training, discipline, streamlining – swimming the distance.

I AM WATER approaches the ocean through sensory immersion, education and ecological awareness – plunging into the depth.

Through this exchange of perspectives something magical happened.

We learned from each other – and we lifted each other as a collective.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with I Am Water for a new campaign in 2026.

On 7 March, our swim team will be taking the I Am Water coaches for an ocean confidence session to learn more about optimising swim technique. In exchange, on 18 April, we’ll be slowing down down with an immersive snorkelling session which the I Am Water team will lead.

For the 6 weeks in between, we’re running a fundraiser to help put more learners through their transformative Ocean Guardians program.

We are raising funds for the I Am Water Trust, and we’d love you to join in!

We’re raising funds to sponsor class of 36 Grade 7 learners to take part in the Ocean Guardians Workshop, which consists of two full school days of ocean explorations.

The cost is R760 per learner for a two day workshop, which covers Transport + Lunch + Workshop Fees.

760 x 36  = R 27 360 ($1717)
